HackinMiami Code of Conduct

At HackinMiami, we believe in fostering an environment where everyone, from any background, can participate, contribute, and learn. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for participant behavior, as well as the steps for reporting unacceptable behavior. By participating in this hackathon, you agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct.

Sponsors, judges, mentors, volunteers, organizers, HackinMiami staff, and anyone else participating in the event are also subject to the Code of Conduct.

Respect

Showing respect to all participants is integral to a productive, collaborative hackathon environment. Participants are expected to respect each other, the organizing team, the judges, the mentors, and the sponsors. Discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or age, harassment, or any other form of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.

Inclusivity

HackinMiami is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for all participants. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds and identities, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or age. Everyone has the right to participate in a safe and welcoming environment, and we will work actively to ensure that this right is upheld.

Professionalism

All participants are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism. This includes demonstrating integrity in all actions, taking responsibility for personal actions, and treating all individuals fairly. During the hackathon, we expect all participants to uphold these standards and to behave in a manner that contributes positively to the overall event atmosphere.

No Harassment

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, offensive comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or technology choices, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, and the sharing of sexual images in public spaces.
